ATEX Compliant Cable Glands for Mining Applications
We are pleased to announce the launch of our ATEX compliant Cable Glands and accessories for Group I Mining applications. The range comprises of the 653/Universal, 653/T and 623 Cable Glands, together with accessories and adaptors/reducers.
Featuring Unique Visible Rear Sealing System - Wide Cable Acceptance Range
The new rear sealing system has removed the requirement for special outer seals. With a wider cable acceptance range, only one seal is now required per cable gland size. Selection and installation of the correct cable gland size has also been facilitated by the stamping of the appropriate outer sheath diameter range onto the backnut. The new sealing system is significantly faster to install as the backnut can be hand tightened, with one further spanner turn ensuring IP66 & IP67 Ingress Protection and compliance with the cable retention requirements of the ATEX Directive. Manufactured from a low smoke and fume zero halogen silicone material, the rear seal provides improved grip, elastic properties and enhanced performance when subjected to extreme temperature variations, oils, chemicals and UV degradation over the lifetime of operation. The rear seal material is also coloured to be highly visible, meaning it is now possible to visually inspect the seal to ensure contact with the cables outer sheath.
Featuring Revolutionary Inspectable Compound Chamber - Designed for Safety
In line with Hawke's underlying philosophy of product safety through inspectability, we have incorporated a revolutionary inspectable compound chamber into the design of our ATEX certified mining Cable Glands. Pre-lubricated, the new Hawke compound chamber can be easily removed following the curing process. Inspection of the cured compound can then be completed and any surface voids repaired in situ, a process that can not be completed with Cable Glands employing metallic compound chambers, where destructive sample testing is required. The new compound chamber also acts as a flameproof seal, reducing the number of piece parts as there is no longer a requirement for a seperate seal and chamber. Furthermore, the benefits of this unique compound chamber enable the Hawke mining cable gland range to fully comply with the strict heat cycling and explosive pressure tests required under the ATEX Directive.
